Backup and cloud software blocking the game or user folder (OneDrive, Acronis True Image)

Game won't launch, freezes or can't save settings and mods? OneDrive Documents sync or Acronis True Image may block BeamNG.drive or its user folder.

Backup and cloud sync programs can block the game from launching or from accessing its user folder.

 Acronis True Image

Problem:
  • Could block the game from launching, or freeze randomly.
Solution:
  • This app may be interfering with the game’s operation. Please contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

 OneDrive (Windows 10)

If OneDrive integration is enabled in Windows 10, the Documents folder becomes a synced cloud folder, which could cause Problems if the game is using the default user folder location.

Problem:
  • In rare cases, it could block the game from accessing the default user folder location, making impossible to save settings, mods and so on.
Solution:
  • Disable the Controlled Folder Access option within the software (usually disabled by default).
Try using a different location for your user folder. To do so, use Launcher > Manage User Folder > Change Location, and then select a different folder that does not require special permissions (for example C:\BeamNG.drive)
